Primary to our mission is the support of ongoing programs for children and adults. These programs include:

Art in the Library
A rotating display of exhibits featuring the artistic endeavors of local artists is on display at the Library. Find out what is showing this month.

Book Sales
Get a great book deal and support the Friends. Stop by the Library (near the fireplace) anytime and choose from hundreds of pre-read bestsellers, non-fiction, mystery, science fiction and children's books. Click here for information on the next book sale.

Children's Programs
Throughout the year the Friends sponsor various events for children including after-school activities, concerts, story tellers and much more.

Museum Passes
The Friends of the Ashland Library provide a variety of museum passes. They can be checked out just like books and offer free or significantly discounted admission. Museum passes may be reserved up to 2 weeks in advance  check with the library for availability by calling 508-881-0134, ext. 7500.

Our selection of passes currently includes:

  • Children's Museum
    Pass admits up to 4 people at $8 per person.
  • Conservation and Recreation Annual Park Pass
    This pass entitles bearer to free parking for 1 vehicle at over 50 facilities in the MA State Parks System.
  • Danforth Museum of Art
    The Danforth will be closed until December 2017 as they move to a new location. We will not be checking out the pass during this time. Please see the Danforth's website for updates by clicking the link above. Pass allows one person or family group admission at no charge. Not valid for special events.
  • Discovery Museum
    Pass admits 3 people to both the Discovery Museum and the Science Discovery museum. Adults and Children= $5.50 Seniors= $5 Children under 1= Free
  • Garden in the Woods
    This pass admits up to 4 people. Adults=50% discount on admission. Children=$1
  • Griffin Museum­
    This pass allows free admission for 3 adults.
  • Museum of Fine Arts - Boston
    Pass admits 2 adults, for general admission for $10 per person. Admission for children is free except during school hours when there is a $6.50 fee for ages 7-17.
  • Museum of Science - Boston
    These passes were generously sponsored by the Middlesex Savings Bank. Pass admits up to 4 people at $10 per person. This is a general admission pass and does not include admission to the Omni Theater, Planetarium, Laser Show or special exhibits.
  • New England Aquarium
    This pass allows 4 visitors at $10 per visitor. Admission to IMAX Theatre and parking is extra. This pass is only valid from September through June.
  • USS Constitution
    This pass allows parties of up to 9 free admission.
  • Wheelock Family Theatre
    Discounted tickets are made available for evening performances through the library pass program, sponsored by the Boston Parents' Paper. With your Massachusetts library card you are offered one free ticket for each ticket you purchase at the regular price. Reserve in advance and present your library card at the box office on the day of attendance. Call the Box Office at 617-879-2300 to reserve your tickets, and let them know you have a library card good for the evening performance BOGO (Buy One Get One).
