Downstairs Picture Gallery
August 31st - September 29th
Conor Doherty Fashion 2009-10
There will an Artist’s Reception on Sat, Sept 25, 2:00 -4:00 PM.
Conor Doherty is one of Boston’s leading fashion photographers and his work has appeared in a number of magazines in the Boston area. He grew up in nearby Sherborn, MA, took classes at an early age at the MFA and became involved in various aspects of the fine arts, especially the theater and theatrical set design. This has influenced his photography which has a dramatic, at times a dark mood, and has also influenced his ability to tell a story through a single image.
In Conor’s words:
“I don’t know where my initial interest in Fashion Photography came from,
but I find the inherent collaborative nature of it addicting. The work of
various clothing and jewelry designers brought together by wardrobe
stylists - the transformation of a model at the hands of makeup artists and
hair stylists - the model herself who brings the fashion to life. The
process of creating an image by working with so many artistic individuals
brings a whirlwind of creative energy to me on every shoot I do. My goal is
to create interesting, timeless images that evoke emotion. This body of
work represents two years of chasing that goal”.
The Library is pleased to present his work as the first exhibit in our 2010-11 exhibition season.
