Summer Reading Program: Go Green @ Your Library
Summer Reading Program: Go Green @ Your Library
Kick-off Event: STOMP on Tuesday, June 22nd at 2:00 pm-3:00 pm
The 2010 Ashland Summer Reading Program "Go Green @ your library" starts on Tuesday, June 22 with a special kick-off program for kids who have completed Kindergarten - Grade 5. The theme this summer is about being "green", recycling, and taking care of the Earth. The kick-off program is "STOMP", a lively workshop with Brett Outchcunis. Brett will be teaching kids how to make rhythm and music using just their hands and feet. Kids attending the program are being asked to make a musical instrument or other noise maker out of recycled materials and bring it with them to the program. Come to the Children's Room to get some ideas about making musical instruments. Everyone will leave the program clapping and stomping!
Space in the Meeting Room is limited. Free tickets for this program will be available in the Children's Room starting at 1:00 on June 22. When the room has reached capacity, the program will be "closed".
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Ashland Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass. Cultural Council. Additional support is provided by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library.
Teachers will pass out Ashland Summer Reading Packets to kids in grades Kindergarten - 5 during the last week of school. If your child does not attend Ashland Public School, you will be able to pick up a packet at the Library after June 18.
